[ OVERVIEW ]

What is Amagi Life?

Amagi Life is a regenerative village on Koh Phangan, Thailand for families, entrepreneurs, and creators building long-term community with shared ownership. The name Amagi comes from the first recorded word for freedom in ancient Sumer, roughly meaning "return to the mother." The village combines eco-conscious living with shared land stewardship and a community economy that rewards contribution over extraction.

Who joins Amagi Life?

Amagi Life attracts remote workers, location-independent entrepreneurs, artists, practitioners, and families who want stable long-term living outside the conventional property market. The community explicitly seeks early adopters: people who are self-directed, emotionally mature, and comfortable helping build something that is still taking shape. Villagers, investors, and partner organizations are all recognized pathways into the community.

[ HISTORY ]

Amagi Life was founded in 2024 on Koh Phangan, Thailand by a team including Ofer Rotem, a blockchain investor and real estate developer with over 17 years of experience and more than 100 homes built on the island, and Geir Windsvoll, a serial entrepreneur who has lived on Koh Phangan for 17 years. The founding team set out to prototype a new kind of village where residents earn co-ownership through contribution rather than capital alone.

The project's first site is Hidden Valley, a secluded location in the hills above Ban Tai. In January 2025 the team launched the Amagi Village Podcast on Spotify and YouTube to document the community's development in real time. By January 2026, nine residents were living across eleven available homes, with the team focused on reaching its first 20 to 30 residents.

[ LOCATION ]

Amagi Life's first village occupies Hidden Valley, a secluded site in the hills above Ban Tai on Koh Phangan, approximately five minutes from the Ban Tai town centre. The setting pairs natural surroundings with straightforward access to island services and infrastructure.

Si Ri Panya International School - a Cambridge-accredited British school serving early years through secondary, taught in English and licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education - is five minutes from the village and provides bus transport to and from the community.

Koh Phangan is a Thai island in the Gulf of Thailand known for its beaches, jungle interior, and growing base of long-term residents. The island has direct ferry connections to the mainland and to Koh Samui, which has an international airport.

[ DURATION ]

Amagi Life is designed for long-term living rather than fixed-length cohorts or short visits. Residents join either as Residents, moving into an existing home, or as Builders, who commission a custom home through the in-house construction team. No minimum stay is publicly stated, but the community's equity model - where co-ownership grows through ongoing participation - is structured to reward residents who stay and contribute over time.

[ PRICING ]

Amagi Life uses a rent-reduction model tied to community participation. Three tiers are available:

- Full Value: live rent-free while earning village equity through active contribution - Half Payment: 50% rent reduction with ongoing equity accumulation - Standard Rate: normal rent with equity earned over time

Rent rates are set by community governance and vary by home. For residents who want to build rather than rent, land-plus-build packages start from approximately 60,000 baht. Specific terms are discussed during a 1:1 alignment call with the team. Contact join@amagi.life to start the conversation.
